What is the exact reason why humans are not divided into different subspecies?

From what I know, species get divided into separate subspecies when there are differences in geographic distribution and morphology. Different human populations look somewhat different from each other and are more globally dispersed than a lot of other species, so what prompted scientists to decide that there are no separate subspecies? Is it because humans are more genetically similar than other species are and because of globalization?
